The word crisis has replaced recession because it sounds more alarmist.
America in Crisis
The economy is down. And 2009 will could bring massive layoffs as companies are not spending. But still I am always a crisis skeptic. Why? I live in Poland. I visit my family in Ukraine. I am American. I see how people in the villages do not have water and bring water from the well. 80 year old ladies. They are not talking crisis. Many people still live with their whole family in 1 room and they are not talking crisis.
America crisis everything
Like the bird flu and the rice crisis, the economic crisis is all you hear on the media. I think people who are saying the sky is falling should live in a Ukrainian village for a year and they would come back to the USA and see how stupid the talk of hard times sounds.
Well fed American in Crisis
I watched some ‘well fed’ American lady in an SUV on TV crying “The government needs to protect the American consumer or the crisis will be worst.” She needs to live somewhere besides Connecticut for a year. And forget about her hyper consumptive dreams and focus on those who have less in the world.
Driving a 7 year old car in the Crisis in America
Another one I liked was the news reported about a women who has a 7 year old car and is not even considering buying a new one. In Poland a 15 year old car people are happy with. I do not have a car in fact. 7 year old car is like next years model. And the car was a Honda she had. Wow Honda in my opinion is a great car. Poland is not a poor country anymore. In fact it also now is rich, but please a 7 year old car is not news worthy reporting. America is not in crisis.
There is no crisis in America. When I routinely see 80 year old women in towns all across America bringing water from wells and pulling potatoes with their own hands to live on, in small houses with 3 generations living on 100 dollars a month, then you can say America might be in crisis with regards to the economy, but right now, America is not in crisis.
