The central idea behind Ukrainian Politics

Ukrainian politics centers around one idea. This idea it is in western Ukraine people are western looking. In the eastern, Ukrainian people look to Russia. Ukraine was a great power in the Middle Ages, it was called the Kievian state. This centered around Kiev.

However, Russia tried to use Ukraine as a colony for the next several hundred years. Russia also went under a policy of Russification of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian languages as a rallying point around Ukraine

This policy included in stamping out the Ukrainian language. The Ukrainian language is important in Ukrainian politics. Therefore, when Ukraine got its independence in the nineteen nineties the country was split between the west and the east. In the west people speak Ukrainian. In the east people speak Russian. The politics at her sense has been a power struggle between these two fractions of Ukrainians.

Russia’s bribes

To complicate this Moscow gives the stern Ukrainian politicians a lots of money in order to maintain power and make an alliance with Moscow instead of with the EU.

This is tragic for Ukraine. Because Moscow is always selfish. Moscow all will never trade or politically be an equal partner to anyone. We have a thousand years of history to prove this.

Ukrainian politics and the EU

On the other hand, countries that have entered the EU, such as Poland, have done quite well. The EU actively tries to develop its member countries.

I am an American that lives in Poland. I have seen it with my own eye, that Poland in just five years of entering the EU has gone from poor to rich. In fact, when I first came here as an American, by was probably one of the wealthier people around me. Now all I don’t know if I’m even average.

In Ukraine, the eastern part has large industrial factories and wealth. these rich elite which controls Ukrainian industry further support Ukraine’s Russian leanings. This is not because Russia will help Ukraine, it is because these oligarchs will personally benefit the cash in their pocket, from Ukraine being tied to Moscow.

Ukrainian politics would benefit from Western support

To break free from the yoke of Moscow, Ukrainians need help from the west. The tragedy is the EU and the U.S. is afraid of Moscow. its is beyond me why the west is so cowardly towards Moscow. Moscow always has and always will be any. List power trying to influence its neighbors only for the benefit of itself.

Ukraine is the largest country in Europe, that is only in Europe. It is the bread basket of Europe. It has large industrial wealth as well as natural resources. It has beautiful resort towns on the Black sea. Ukraine has everything it needs to be a wealthy country, including very bright people. The one thing Ukraine lacks is good politics.

For Ukraine not the best Politician is Yulia Tymoshenko. I also think there are some young stars rising, connected with Ukrainian politics that want Ukraine in the EU and NATO. However, it looks like Moscow’s old buddies will have control for now.
